Editing Altierra

Altierra is a planet mostly covered by ocean. The explored area is small, approximately 3,600 nautical miles west to eat, and 2,100 miles north to south.

This comprises three large islands and several smaller ones. The three large islands are known collectively as the [[Triada]] and consist of:

* '''[[Alta]]''' in the west, a mountainous island and location to the original portal, the [[Tierrapuerta]].

* '''[[Isla Arbojan]]''' in the east is roughly circular, also with uplands though not so high as Alta. It is the location of the [[Mundumbra]] portal.

* '''[[Veridia]]''' is a long angular island to the north, roughly in between the other two. It has a more hospitable climate and has the largest population.

Most of the other small islands are uninhabited or have sparse populations. The The most distant islands are known as '''[[Las Islas Perdidas]]'''. One of these that is better know is [[Isjana]], the most northerly inhabited island. Because of its remoteness, it is used whenever a person wishes to refer to isolation or ignorance.

==Geographic co-ordinates==

As both the English and Spanish settlers came from seafaring parties, the measurements of latitude and longitude were quickly established. The latitude measurement refers to the equator and the prime meridian was established at the location of the [[Tierrapuerta]] portal entrance, now in the Cregan of [[Casando]].

The limits of all the islands is a box between 28.5° North and 63.5° North, and 8° West and 83° East.

==Etymology==

There are three possible explanations for the name Altierra.

* The Spanish words ''al'' meaning "to the" and ''tierra'' meaning "land".'
* A shortening of ''toda la tierra'' meaning "all the land".
* A combination of English ''all'' and Spanish ''tierra''.
