Vila is a Bestia Fiel at [[Rocosa]]. She is put in charge of [[Meg Maddison]] but treats her badly and is punished as a result.

==Appearance==

Vila is a woman of about thirty, with an attractive face and a carefully maintained appearance. She has dark hair, worn in a plaited ponytail, and a confident, self-conscious bearing. In the image-based interpretation, she has a slim, youthful figure and carries herself with a certain poise that contrasts with the harsher side of her personality. Her appearance is one of the few advantages she possesses within the Bestia hierarchy, and she is aware of it.

==Character==

Vila is proud, resentful and cruel, particularly toward Bestia beneath her in rank. She dislikes being required to supervise Meg, whom she regards as an inferior and an unwelcome burden. Her resentment is intensified by the fact that Laritza orders her to care for a Bestia Baja, something she considers beneath her dignity.

Vila uses her limited authority to dominate others. She is not powerful in the wider structure of Altierra, but within the House of the Handmaidens she can threaten and punish lower-ranking slaves. She appears to take satisfaction in humiliating Meg, assigning her degrading tasks and deliberately looking for opportunities to assert control.

At the same time, Vila is insecure. Her status is better than Brisa’s, and her beauty has brought her advantages, but she knows that she remains a slave and that her position depends upon the approval of those above her. Her relationship with a Handmaiden gave her temporary privilege and influence, reinforcing her belief that beauty is a means of advancement. She therefore looks down on people beneath her while trying to distinguish herself from them.

Vila is also vindictive and easily frustrated. When Meg resists her, she interprets it as a personal challenge rather than as fear or confusion. Her punishment of Meg eventually becomes excessive, leaving the girl unable to work and attracting the attention of Marshal Valdez. Vila’s cruelty is therefore not merely institutional; it is driven by wounded pride, jealousy and the desire to make someone else feel as powerless as she does.

==Speech==

Vila speaks in a sharp, impatient and contemptuous manner. She often uses insulting terms such as “Baja”, “simpleton” and “fool”, reducing Meg to her rank rather than acknowledging her as an individual. Her sentences are usually short and commanding, especially when she is ordering Meg to work.

She frequently uses sarcasm and mockery. Her remarks about Meg’s supposed laziness or stupidity are intended to provoke a reaction and justify further punishment. She also enjoys making threats sound casual, as when she reminds Meg that she is allowed to beat lower-ranking slaves.

Vila’s tone changes when she is challenged by someone with greater authority. In front of Laritza or Valdez, she becomes fearful and submissive, bowing repeatedly and offering excuses. This contrast shows that her confidence is dependent upon having power over someone else. With Meg, she speaks like a tyrant; with her superiors, she sounds nervous and obedient.
