There are a few islands which are too isolated to be considered part of any of the Triada, and they are know collectively as Las Islas Perdidias. They are all to the north west of Alta and Veridia. They are not all inhabited.

Etymology

[edit]
  • Las Islas Perdidas means "The Forgotten Islands" in Spanish.
  • Isjana comes from isla (island) and lejana (distant).

Geography

[edit]

There are five separate groupings in Las Isla Perditas: four archipelagos and two single islands.

Albion Isles

[edit]

When the Spanish conquered Veridia, some of the English settlers sailed away to these distant islands to retain their way of life and beliefs. They named the islands the "Albion Isles". When the Spanish found them, they decided to leave the islanders to continue without interference as long as they recognised the Spanish and Illarion, and paid a regular tribute. In theory, the islanders follow Divara but, in reality, they are still Christian.

To the other Altierrans, they are known as the Islas de los Extranjeros ("Land of the Foreigners")

The archipelago consists of two separate groups:

New Devon
The island of New Devon with its three small islands known as the "Ducks" because they resembled three ducklings with their mother. They are uninhabited and called North Duck, Central Duck and South Duck. New Devon is about 55 miles by 30 miles; the capital is called Plymouth.

Scilly
A pair of islands 225 miles from New Devon. They are known as Scilly and the islands are named after two of the Isles of Scilly: Tresco and Bryher. They are inhabited with small populations,

Other Notes

[edit]

Because of its remoteness, Isjana is used when people refer to distance or ignorance.

"The clothes, the accents, their lack of knowledge of even the most basic things. Even someone from distant Isjana would not appear so. "
