There are three version of The Snow Beyond the Wall:

Adult version

Jack's sexual perversions

• The adult version reveals Jack's sexual fantasies. He had been spanked by his mother when young and tried this out on his sisters. When he was stopped, he turned to fantasies of spanking them.
