Alucio is the Maddison siblings' first ally in Altierra — a hunter who rescues them from a Guardia patrol in the woods and becomes the strategist, guide, and leader of every subsequent rescue attempt. He is the character who understands Altierra's politics, geography, and social customs, and who translates that knowledge into actionable plans. Without Alucio, the Maddisons would have been captured or killed within hours of arriving; with him, they mount a dangerous infiltration of Rocosa and a successful rescue at Sometria. He returns to his wife Genita and the hunt after the Maddisons settle, reappearing in the epilogue as Luke's nearest neighbour.
