Etymology

The name is the direct Spanish word for "ensign".

Appearance

The Alférez has one red plume in his helmet, or wears a badge of a single sun.

Notes

Commands: 8–25 troops (sección or section), which consists of 2-3 escuadras. He has a Sargento in his section.
